New Clergy for St. John's

After a seven month delay, Monday 12th May saw the service of installation of Padre Fran Myatt as Assistant Priest in Charge at St. John's to Revd. Ellen Loudon, the Area Dean. A packed church where practically every seat was filled brought a welcome that only St. John's can give. The traditional 'tea and cake' afters gave an opportunity for all to meet informally and celebrate together! Even Bishop Richard 'mucked in' and did some washing up!

Blue Peter Badges for Sophie!

Picture
I have got 3 Blue Peter badges. I got these by completing different tasks. I have a blue, silver and a green badge. The blue badge task was easy; I needed to write a story of 500 words or over. My story was called the magic pen. The silver and green tasks were harder to complete. I wrote a poem for the silver badge and drew a picture about the environment for the green badge. You need to have bounce back ability to complete all of the badges. My favourite task out of them all was the silver task because I thought it was the most fun. If you want to try and get the silver badge you would need to already have your blue badge and to write a poem. Before you start your poem you should check out their website first and find out all the details. I recommend a website called wordhippo.com to find rhyming words for the poem.

Latest recruit….

Picture
Anna was recently awarded with a wooden cross to wear from the church for her serving. She has now completed 4 months training and is now a fully fledged junior server. Well done Anna!

Cake!

Picture
Anna and Clare aged 9 and 7 baked cakes using the chocolate from some of their Easter eggs. They sold them in church after the service and raised £ 23.39. The money is to be sent to The Children's Society to help children who are not as fortunate as them. Both girls are generous with their time and their chocolate. It's a privilege to know two thoughtful young girls.

On 9th December, Bishop Cyril came to St. John's, and during the 10am Eucharist to confirmed 6 members of our congregation.
