About Us
St. John's church was consecrated on 10th September 1880 and has served the area of Walton Vale faithfully ever since. When people ask where the parish is, it is best described by two well known landmarks. The southern boundary begins just below H.M. Prison Walton and the northern boundary finishes just before Aintree Racecourse at Aintree Railway Station. The A59 runs through the centre of the parish and links Switch Island and the M57 and M58 Motorways with the city centre. It is the main road into the centre of Liverpool and is always very busy with traffic. Its postal address is 472 - 474 Rice Lane, Walton, L9 2BW.

St. John’s is an Anglican Church within the catholic tradition. The Eucharist is the main service which is celebrated every Sunday. There are two Eucharistic Services, the first at 8.00a.m. for those who wish to have a quiet, said service, and a Choral Eucharist at 10.00a.m. The first Sunday in the month is Parade Sunday when our uniformed organisations join us for a shorter Choral Eucharist. The young people actively take part by leading the intercessions, the offertory and taking part in the sermons. There is also a said mid-week Eucharist on Wednesday at 10.00a.m. Saints days and Holy days are as announced. The Eucharist is Common Worship order one and we have a choice of three musical settings for our sung Eucharist. There is a very strong musical tradition with a very dedicated and accomplished Musical Director and Choir. We have an excellent organ which has recently been re-leathered and overhauled. We also have a dedicated team of servers of all ages.
